Everyone knows that this time of year is challenging for anyone who struggles with weight and body image. I know I ate/drank/indulged a bit too much over the holiday weekend, but I can certainly live with it. Would I rather weigh less than 150? Yes, though I am well aware that that benchmark of acceptability [...]

Post Thanksgiving Scale Free Day

Posted by: joymanning In: On my mind

I didn’t weigh myself this morning. I had a typically generous Thanksgiving Day dinner with several types of pie and probably a gallon of white wine. I could have made healthier choices, but I’m not going to beat myself up about.
I wrote about some the food over at Oyster Evangelist, but here I wanted to [...]

150/Pre-Turkey

Posted by: joymanning In: Cooking| Weigh In

I have been doing a lot of cooking these past few days. There have been pie doughs, and six of them. And puffs. And the all important make-ahead gravy. I made homemade crackers (recipe to come!) and two types of pie filling (apple and cranberry). In just a few hours, it’s off to the Fair [...]

Introducing My New Baby

Posted by: joymanning In: On my mind

Hi, What I Weigh Today readers!
Did you all know I’ve been at this blogging stuff just three weeks shy of a year? And in that time, I have really taken to blogging. I mean, I really, really like it. And as much as I enjoy this site, I’ve been wanting a legitimate, photo-filled food and [...]

151/Pie Dreams

Posted by: joymanning In: Restaurants| Weigh In

Last night, I had the strangest food dream. My mother-in-law baked this gorgeous caramel cream pie with a luscious burnt caramel glaze. I’ve actually never tasted such a pie, but I love all things caramel and, in the dream, I asked her for slice. She told me I couldn’t have one because I was fat. [...]

150

I’m feeling a little rough around the edges this morning after a wine-drenched anniversary feast at Bibou. Note to self: two bottles of wine for two people is one bottle too many even if it is a special occasion. Dan and I enjoyed it just as much as when I made my reviewing visits over [...]

150/Boots!

Posted by: joymanning In: Weigh In

I think you all know I’ve gotten pretty serious about accepting my body the way it is. In the past year, for example, I’ve bought some new clothes that fit me instead of pretending that I’m one week away from being a smaller size.
And today, I bought boots. Knee high boots, footwear with the power [...]

150

Posted by: joymanning In: Weigh In

That’s cool. I like a downward trend. I have been eating at home these past few days, and that’s been restorative. I also ran yesterday and the day before. But I’m taking today off because I feel a little zonked out for who knows what reason. I think I’m going to make myself a cup [...]

151.5/What should I make?

Posted by: joymanning In: Cooking| Weigh In

I admit that I have been cheating on this blog with my almost-ready-to-show-you blog. I’m sorry.
I’m glad to see that this number is down from two days ago, though, of course, I remain hopeful that it will soon dip below 150.
During my run yesterday, I felt the strongest that I have since I’ve recovered form [...]

152

Posted by: joymanning In: Weigh In

It has been an exceptionally calorie-dense, exercise poor month. I have no reason to expect that I’m spiraling into a weight climb. I really think that I’ll drop back to a smidgen below 150 and hopefully stay there through out the season of gluttony that is about to descend upon us.  Did you know that [...]

  • Felicia D'Ambrosio: Say it, sister. You DON'T need to be a rail to be happy and healthy. Women's magazines reinforce every negative thing we think about ourselves, and
  • JeanineBean: Hooray! I've been waiting for this post! Good for you. Let's talk about something ELSE! (-:
  • pauline: I too have struggled with weight but for the first time in a lot of years I am down to 152lbs I think I would be happy at 145 then I could have a litt
