You just can’t imagine how much better I feel about pretty much everything when I wake up under a blanket in a comfortably cool bedroom in the morning. I am thrilled to report that as I sit here typing, I am not also sweating.
I have a lot on my plate for the next few weeks, [...]

After a week of travel, I know my weight could have spiked more. I can’t lie, I’m not happy to see the 150s, but I have a strong feeling that resuming my normal diet and exercise habits will probably shift me back into the 140s. I remain committed to eating when I’m hungry and stopping [...]
I’m back.
Food notes from my travels:
It’s been quite a week. While I was in Pittsburgh reporting on a story, I tried out Pamela’s Diner (strip district location). Loved the homemade chorizo patties; liked the crepe-style pancakes, which were somehow both fluffy and crispy, though they had the distinctly artificial flavor of Whirl or something similar, [...]
OK, I’m about to head off to Pittsburgh to work on a story, and then, from Sunday to Friday, I’ll be at the Jersey Shore with my mother and aunts. Saturday, a good friend of mine is getting married. I am not at all sure how regularly I will be blogging for the next week. [...]

Dan: You probably should do that.
Me: Why?
Dan: So your readers know you didn’t kill yourself or anything.
I created this space to write about and work through my body image issues. I try to openly express how [...]

Feeling none too good about that weight and then feeling bad about feeling bad about it, since feeling bad is a big fat failure in the self-acceptance department. I actually don’t know what to say other than I’m tired of feeling so bad about myself.
I love the idea of a burrito, but most versions I’ve sampled have too much of everything. I’ve never understood why you would stuff a starch (tortilla) with a starch (rice), and I’ve failed to get the wisdom of combining sour cream, cheese, and guacamole in a single dish. Then there’s the size factor. Why [...]

I didn’t blog over the weekend mainly because it was so, so hot. My office gets particularly hot because it’s upstairs and the sun scorches it all day long. Dan and I are air-conditioning incompatible, to put it mildly, so over the weekend I often let go of this room, prioritizing the instead the downstairs, [...]

Yesterday, I weighed in at 149 and I was too upset to blog. As you all know, there is a battle royal raging in my mind these days between the part of me that wants to be thin and the part of me that wants to be me.
I felt the panic and heard the familiar [...]
This Time.com article, “Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin” has really been making the twitter/facebook/blog rounds since its publication on Sunday. It seems like some people have latched onto it as a reason not to work out. Though the author concedes that fitness is linked with a plethora of health benefits, he also implies that [...]
