That seems about right given my calorie roller coaster weekend. Yesterday I was very careful in my food choices. No snacks, no booze, no sweets. It wasn’t easy even putting meals together because we haven’t been grocery shopping since last Sunday. My calorie total was about 1,025. Low, I know, but I have a high-calorie review meal tonight and I am trying to get back into the 145 groove after all.
Yesterday’s meals:
Breakfast
Coffee with milk and sugar; 1 egg, scrambled with cheddar and onions; 1 homemade whole wheat biscuit (about 324 calories)
Lunch
Mango-yogurt smoothie, with a side of peanuts (about 261 calories)
Dinner
Penne with a really good, chunky sauce I made by browning a little Italian sausage and lots of cubes of yellow squash and then sort of braising this mixture in some crushed tomatoes. When I tasted it, I was annoyed I didn’t write everything down. But no worries–I decided to do it again for next week’s Serious Eats’ Meat Lite column but over grilled polenta instead of pasta.
