144.5

I can’t tell whether I’ve arrived at the weight I’ll maintain, or a plateau, or if two weeks of excessive wine/dinners out has stalled my progress. Time will tell. Off to the gym. Tonight’s dinner out should be the last of this round of special project restaurant craziness.

Spicy Roasted Cauliflower with Romano

Posted by: joymanning In: Cooking

On the increasingly rare occasion I have one too many drinks, I really want pizza for lunch the next day. Today was no exception, but I didn’t want to compound my calorie sins with a cheesy, greasy slice. Instead, I whipped up some roasted cauliflower and gave it a hint of pizza flavor with plenty [...]

145

When I wrote the new rules, I built in a once-monthly “spontaneity exception.” So last night, when my friend who works in New York appeared in Philly, I ditched my plans to stay in and have a healthy dinner. Instead we got together with another girlfriend and headed to Tria–one of my favorite spots. The [...]

Almost Meatless on Newsday.com

Posted by: joymanning In: Cooking

Tara directed my attention to this great piece at Newsday.com. The story gives an overview of the book and features the recipe for our Almost Meatless version of chilaquiles, a classic Mexican dish. Like a Muffin with Frosting

Posted by: joymanning In: On my mind| Restaurants

Dan, I was packing up that coconut cupcake from Brown Betty that I bought you today so you could have it for work tomorrow, but some of it fell into my mouth. It is delicious. I am sure you’ll enjoy the other half with lunch.
I just came upstairs and started typing that. Dan asked me [...]

146

Posted by: joymanning In: Weigh In

I was hoping for less, but I had a pretty lavish meal last night, so I’m not quite sure why I thought that I might weigh less. Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day. I’d like to see 144, a number I’ve laid eyes on once or twice, but only once has my weight gone down [...]
