152

You know what I find difficult about any attempt at losing weight (or really any attempt at anything in life)? Patience. I have a few good days that go according to plan, I see the number on the scale dip a bit and I immediately start asking myself how I can speed things along. And when it comes to losing weight, you can speed it along–if you are looking forward to gaining it back. I have learned that if I implement something as a weightloss measure that won’t be permanent–like skipping meals, quitting drinking–the weight loss will be as temporary as the behavior. That’s why it’s so key to accept yourself and appreciate yourself as you are right now, today. Because even if I am able to lose weight, with my personality and eating obligations, it’s going to take a while.

Patience is really important, and kindness to yourself. I interviewed a psychologist once who said that women often sabotage themselves and they can be skinny on the outside but fat on the inside. Oprah has talked about that struggle as well. Maybe it’s not so much about losing weight but about changing the way you feel about yourself that makes you overeat? I dunno but it’s food for thought. Thanks for your blog.
